Trying to lose weight and get into shape is no easy task.  Don’t believe anyone that tries to tell you there’s a quick fix for weight loss or getting in shape. The only way to get the physique that you're after is with dedication, hard work, and lifestyle changes. With that said, making lifestyle changes can be challenging especially with temptations around all the time. To successfully achieve your goals, it is best to get your significant other on-board. It is critical to have support from loved ones because they play a pivotal role, whether you like it or not, as to whether you will achieve your goals.

So why is this the case? Well, there are several factors that should be taken into consideration.

Reduces Temptation

Whenever you make positive changes in food and diet, it can be difficult to stay the course because of cravings and goodies that seem to be everywhere you turn. If your partner is committed to getting healthy with you, this removes the visual temptations of someone eating all the foods you want and crave in front of you. You won’t be buying those treats or unhealthy items either because both of you will be making healthier and smarter choices. There won’t be a need to buy things only for them and only for you.

Promotes Accountability

There is accountability when couples work out or diet together. When you are held accountable for your choices and actions you are more likely to follow through and reach your goals. It is harder to make excuses when you have someone who is holding you accountable. Your partner will be someone you can lean on when it gets daunting, and you can be that support for them as well when they start to struggle. You won’t want to let each other down, and therefore you will be more likely to stick to your new routine/lifestyle.

Provides Motivation

When you make positive changes and start seeing results, it motivates you to want to continue and strive to reach your goals. When you see your significant other make progress, it will only encourage and motivate you to do the same. No one wants to see their significant other become smoking hot and be left behind! Your new physiques will motivate each other and in turn encourage each other to go the distance and to stay healthy and fit.

You’ll Be Less Likely to Go Back to Old Habits

 Old habits can be hard to break! However, if you have created new habits and routines with your partner, and have had success, you are less likely to fall back into bad habits. You will have built a new life together and won’t have to worry about getting someone on-board or making exceptions because the other one isn’t really into your new lifestyle. This will take a lot of stress off your relationship because you will both be making similar choices and decisions.

So if you are serious about wanting to make a change and have it last, do it with your partner. You will be glad that you did and you will yield positive results for many years together.
