It is that time of year when we all reflect and want to be better versions of ourselves. So, while you are contemplating what you want to change or achieve this year, here are 6 secrets that if implemented will absolutely help you reach your personal goals.

1. Start.

The hardest part is to get started. Decide what your goals are and decide to commit.

2. Don’t make excuses.

If you want something bad enough you will find a way to get it. If you don’t really want it, then you will make excuses. If you really want to achieve your goals, don’t let excuses enter your vocabulary.

3. Celebrate small victories.

Goals should be realistic, manageable, and be able to be broken down into smaller parts. This will make them much more attainable and you can feel good about celebrating small victories. Small victories will keep your moral up and keep you motivated to achieve success.

4. Ignore the haters.

People are always going to criticize and make comments. It is a fact of life, but that doesn’t mean you have to listen to them. Tune them out! The only person whose opinion matters is yours. So, believe in yourself a little more.

5. Be consistent.

Consistency equals success! I don’t know a single person who did not achieve their goals when they were consistent. Having trouble being consistent? Then refer back to number 2.

6. Stay positive. 

Positivity keeps you going. Remember to embrace your progress and to not get overwhelmed by the big picture. Here’s a quote that my mom always tells me… “It’s hard by the yard, a cinch by the inch”. Whenever you feel like you are about to give up, repeat that quote to yourself. I swear, it really does help.
